Hilarious Insight and Words from our beloved Ranch Old Skool!

As anyone who reads my blog knows…I am the #1 fan of our Old Skool from the Ranch … my tias, tio and Dad come up with the most hilarious words and sayings…

Here are a few words that you will so enjoy:

TIRILONGO meaning niiiiice or looking good.    Tia Becky said this yesterday when she saw my Dad dressed up in his charro suit for a gig, “ay Miguel…llegas todo tirilongo!”

TUTURUSCU meaning drunk or druda (combination of drunk and cruda).  Tia Becky remembers saying this on occasion to Tio Willie (RIP) or to her Frankie when they would come home tipsy, “mira como llegas…andas tuturuscu!”

Tia Lili is known to break out with the following:  “Can you imaginarse?”  LOL

And if Tia Becky’s Panchito is reading this one…your Mom had us rolling when she tells the story about how you came home ‘tuturuscu’ talking and talking, threw your shirt on the floor, ready to go to bed after a night of partying…and she made you get ready to go to ‘la cebolla’ to work the onions with no sleep.   Then, as Frankie tends to do that ‘guiri guiri’ when he’s ‘tuturuscu’, you were driving her crazy in the car talking and talking on the way to the field in Linden and she had to shut you down by saying, “ya callate Panchito!”    Just in case you don’t remember Frankie, Sylvia Tvita had your back and felt bad that your Mom made you go to the fields!  LOL

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear our old skool go on and on … we are blessed no doubt to have the Jefes del Rancho around … they are life of any Ranch Party!

Bad Day + Nature = The Great Equalizer

Ever have a day when NOTHING goes right?   A couple of days ago, I had one of those days…I was completely off of my game and did something that I  r-a-r-e-l-y do:  I brought in my personal baggage into the professional world…hurt and angry with certain individuals and mad at the world attitude caused me to completely take it out on an innocent bystander.  Thank God I had the good sense to apologize to this person after which I immediately stepped away and went to walk Lake Merritt in downtown Oakland.

A friend took me to walk Lake Merritt for the first time ever when I was having a bad night and, if you’ve ever walked it, you will know that you have to walk it ALL because it’s huge and once you get halfway thru it, it’s easier to just finish because turning back is about the same distance LOL

What I noticed was that about halfway thru the walk, a good part of my rage was gone, and when I finally got to the car, I knew that my day was going to be better.    I kind of started laughing because it is so true that being out in a beautiful setting near the water and amongst nature almost always does the trick for me…

Love this pic of the full moon over Lake Merritt that I took…try taking advantage of being out and about nature…costs nothing and gives you everything!
